Still at Marburg. Last time we stayed here in the motorhome there were trotting trials happening each morning. This time there were just training sessions, but still pretty impressive horses and trainers. After morning tea we packed up and headed toward Somerset Dam to do a bit of crabbing. This area was affected very badly by the floods earlier in the year and you can see in the photo of the huge conifer just how far up the water reached and bits of debri lodged up in the branches. For old time sake we just had to stop at Fernvale. It always reminds me of the trips through there to watch Andrew row especially when he and the First VIII crew won the head of the River and then went on to win the Australian schoolboy rowing championships at Lake Barrington in Tasmania. Anyhow, enough reminscing - we stopped for a famous Fernvale pie - I chose a Dexter beef pie which was delicious. We were pleased to discover there is now a dump point at Fernvale - for those of you who are not motorhomers, that's where we dispose of our treated toilet waste.
We had no longer settled into our spot at Somerset when we set about organising nets, cutting up rockmelons for bait, then heading down to the dam late in the afternoon to set the "opera house" pots. It was absolutely beautiful out on the water. Three of our motorhome friends had towed their boats up on the back of their vehicles.
