We booked into Le Calendal Hotel in Arles, and started exploring again. Amazingly the hotel was around the corner from another Les Arenes from Julius Caesar's time. Yes, yet another excellent example of a Roman monument although the city was originally a Greek site.
There were people everywhere, and no wonder - Doles De Noels was on - an incredible light show beamed onto the Hotel De Ville in the town's main square. We enjoyed the bit of unexpected entertainment, especially sharing it with the locals - explored more narrow streets and enjoyed a traditional meal in a local restaurant.
Vincent Van Gogh actually lived in Arles for some time and did more than 300 paintings while residing there, so on Sunday we set out on the Van Gogh "walk".
