Pont du Gard

On from Orange David and Susan took me to see Pont du Gard. Wow!!! The Romans began building Pont du Gard around 19BC!!!!! The bridge is part of an aquaduct which transported water from a spring near Uzes. It was engineered to carry 20 million litres daily and was the tallest aquaduct in the Roman empire. Some blocks weigh 6 tonnes and there is no mortar used. It's 48m high and 275m long. Some of the things I have seen defy comprehension - but what an experience I am having!!!
