A photo a day - Day 24

The death toll from the recent flood catastrophe increased to 22 today after two more bodies were found in the Murphy's Creek area.
Children went back to school today so at least there will be a tiny bit of normality in those poor people's lives although there were 92 schools affected by floods which involves over 43,000 children. A lot of the schools have been provided with counsellors to that students cope with finding out some of their friends were displaced, hurt or even died. This will definitely be the case at Granthan and Murphy's Creek.
The state and national governments are busy meeting and working out where the $400,000,000+ it will cost to rebuild roads, wharves, rail lines etc will come from, in the wake of this huge national disaster. There are still huge clean ups going on.
On the home front, you will see that the shops are still struggling to fill their shelves and supplies have been so badly affected. On the up side - things in the garden are growing at a rate I haven't seen for a long time - the plants have loved the monsoonal rain.

These tillandsia's are growing wild in the trees here - such a perfect invironment. See the new baby to the right of the main plant?
